To start off, I LOVE MORROCAN OIL HAIR TREATMENT.
I blogged some months ago about the Morrocan Oil hair treatment and just to try it out I had bought a 25 ml bottle, upon hearing all the good things about it from people and magazines. So, that ran out a few days ago, and I loved it so much that I went out and bought a big 100 ml bottle which comes with a pump! It did cost me £30.50 but I feel that it's definitely worth it and it will last me a good few months as the mini 25 ml bottle lasted me probably about 3 months?
Now, finally here's my own review, even though there are tonnes out there lol ... This is also my first review ever...(∩_∩)
I use it in 2 ways: (i) on damp hair (ii) on dry hair.
- I take a few drops of it, rub it on my palms and apply it on damp towel dried hair, concentrating on the ends since they are very dry for me. Afterwards, I blow dry my hair.
- At other times, I also just take a little amount and just apply it on my dry hair to just condition it.
I love the smell and it's not herbal scented like the Aveda " Smooth Infusion style-prep smoother " and it's not too overpowering either. If you look at the ingredients list, it has perfume in it. After using it, my hair feels nice and silky without being weighed down or oily. It's also makes it shiny, soft and frizz free. My hair is naturally wavy and I've dyed my hair so many times and treated it really bad, that it's now so very dry and needs nourishment. Now I'm trying to go back to my natural roots and just condition and treat my hair. So viola, currently love love this treatment.
I do love the Aveda one, but the strong herbal smell bothers me (sometimes, mostly) though it does make my hair feel rather nice. I like it due to it supposedly being natural and good.
Here's the ingredients list for Morrocan Oil treatment:
My concern:
I do love this product and as stated above, makes my dry hair manageable, soft, shiny and frizz-free without weighing it down. And I also love using organic/natural products because I know it is actually doing good on my hair and do try to steer away from synthetic stuff and seeing on the ingredients list, it seems to contain quite a lot of silicon.
Silicon is a staple on most hair products because of its hydrophobic property (water resistance). The reason your hair becomes soft, shiny and frizz-free upon use of this product is because silicon prevents the absorption of moisture. Have you noticed that it's usually in humid weather that your hair gets frizzy and this is because your hair absorbs the moisture in the air and goes frizzy.
Pro:
Cons:
While silicon is not harmful, my concerns are:

Pro:
- Silicon is heat resistant therefore good if you blow dry your hair like myself regularly or use other heat styling products.
- It protects your hair from further heat damage.
- Argan oil for moisture, and conditioning and strengthening effect on hair and nails and skin, rich in Vitamin E, antimicrobial properties (hence protects)
- pleasant smell and not overpowering
- product is not tested on animals
- paraben free
- great for all hair types
Cons:
While silicon is not harmful, my concerns are:
- it can build up on your hair even though it can be washed off using a clarifying/regular shampoo
- prevents absorption of moisture therefore, not good for your hair on the long run as hair can be left weakened. Your hair will look shiny and feel soft coz of the coated silicon while Hair inside is actually dry :(
- glass bottle which can shatter if you drop it
- Not 100 % argan oil because it contains silicon and other synthetic ingredients
- Expensive (£30.50 for 100 ml ) if it only softens hair and conditions it on the outside .. hmm...
So,... to sum up:
I do love this product. I probably should've done further research before buying the large bottle. One should learn that this product is not purely 100% argan oil!!!! Since I have already bought it, I'll use it up because I do a lot of heat styling and it will protect my hair. Good for summer too I reckon.
Next product I'm looking to try is the LUSH R&B hair leave in moisturiser..... (this one I am sure is more natural and better for your hair because I have looked at the ingredients list and sounds good..... I have tried it on at the shop on my dry hair, and instantly my hair seemed to well, "flop" /feel greasy and sticky which was previously fluffy (not frizzy nor sticky) if you know what I mean.........Maybe it'll feel different if I try it on damp hair and blow dry it? I'll try a sample before purchasing again...Oh well, ......
So what do you guys think (whoever is reading ) ... Till next time then :)
